Wait outside the hinge
Give the person operating the gate a clear area. Notice swing, latch space, footing, fences, stock, vehicles and the room the entire group needs after the opening changes.
Carry the last-person hand-off
Know who accepted responsibility and how completion will be confirmed before the group moves away. Do not assume every gate can or should be handled from horseback.
Give stock distance
Pass quietly and only where permitted. Watch animal attention, young stock, fence integrity, hound position, horse response and the landholder's direction without turning movement into an interaction.
Close your own trace
Remove personal items and report visible damage or an access problem. Do not alter property, repair a fence or change a gate without permission.
