Fold 05 / Hold space

Let a gap remain useful

Spacing is a live relationship between pace, visibility, surface, horses, hounds and the current responsible person's direction. No generic number can make the decision for a real field.

Field note 01

See the stagger

Keep enough open ground to respond without relying on the rider ahead to make your decisions. Notice pace changes, lateral movement, stopping room and what is visible beyond the next horse.

Field note 02

Protect the gap

A clear space is not automatically an invitation to fill it. It can provide the time needed when a branch, fence, dog, rider or surface changes the movement.

Field note 03

Let a pause travel

When a group stops, preserve spacing as well as information. If a cue does not reach you, hold a safe position and ask through today's actual communication arrangement.

Field note 04

Coordinate a quieter line

A slower or flatter choice can be responsible when it is permitted and communicated. The app cannot grant access, select a route or confirm terrain suitability.
